So it's all the rage... what's new and cool, what to drink to be cool and look cool... I guess it makes complete sense to take care of the situation of "it's too hot to drink champagne". In comes Moët Ice that everyone is talking about and wondering. My first encounter with it was at Vinexpo 2016 Hong Kong. My wine buddy pulled me into this "new trend" that we've just gotta try, so we found its cousin of another brand. The booth was decked out in a nightclubby / Kubrick "icy" all white space, complete with white glowing floor. I'm pretty sure I was singing Ice Ice Baby.
So what is it? Technically it's Demi-sec (semi sweet), it needs to be very well chilled (7º, think a quick freezer flash), and meant for plenty of ice ready for poolside. Drinking it without ice I don't recommend, but then I was born missing a sweet tooth. Think there's room for experimentation for sure as well as just adding ice. Verdict: Fun summer drink that maybe better suited to happy folks by the pool than nightclubs. Worth a try and see for yourself. It's for sure not your typical champagne, even with the Moët name. Drink outside well chilled with lots of ice, or use it as a cocktail mixer. At work we are doing a special for $410 HKD each, for 2 bottles you get a gift set of the cool opaque white flutes, which looks pretty cool I have to admit. Let me know if you're interested? Offer last till June 30th.
